Cynthia is a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native and
received her degree in Journalism from Ohio University
in Athens. She was the recipient of the Rotary Foundation
Journalism Fellowship, which provided one year of
post-graduate study at the University of Bristol in
England.
One highlight of Cynthia's career has been her
experience with ABC News in New York, London, and
Washington,
DC. She has served as Peter Jennings' researcher
in London. She spent five
years as a reporter in her hometown at WPXI-TV of
Pittsburgh, but, came to NewsChannel 8 from WTEN-TV
in Albany, NY, where she co-anchored the 6pm and
11pm news. Cynthia is currently co-anchor of NewsChannel
8's First News at Five.
Cynthia
has won many awards, including the National Transportation
Highway Safety Media Award for best reporting in the
US on traffic safety issues, the Pennsylvania Associated
Press Award for enterprised reporting and the New
Hampshire Association of Broadcasters Award for series
reporting. The New York Psychological Association
awarded her their annual Community Service Award for
her three-year series of reports and seminars on issues
affecting teenagers. Over the years, she has served
on the Arthritis Foundation Board of Directors and
does volunteer work for several charities.
She loves reading, jogging and playing tennis...but,
spends most of her spare time with her son, Jake.
